Modern Day Anxiety: How to Help Patients Identify and Manage Anxiety in 2022

OVERVIEW:
Post-Pandemic Anxiety hits different; which is why assessing anxiety in 2022 needs to have a different approach. It is also important that the patients understand their symptoms and identify with anxiety rather than oversimplify their feelings into the category of anxiety. Once recognition and responsibility are acknowledged, treatment plans are much easier to implement. Current FDA approved medications and off-label medications will be covered as well.
OBJECTIVES:
At the end of this 1-hour presentation, attendees will be able to:

2) Know DSM anxiety disorder criteria
3) Discuss patients' responsibility in the treatment process

Meet Our Presenter
Dr. Lara Shirikjian is a board certified psychiatrist in Los Angeles County. She received her undergraduate training at the University of California, Los Angeles with a B.A. in International Development Studies. A course in World Health at the UCLA Geffen School of Medicine confirmed her initial interest in attending medical school. She completed a post-baccalaureate pre-medical program at Scripps College, through the joint sciences program at Claremont McKenna College. She attended medical school at Western University, College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pomona, California. She went on to an allopathic internship and residency program at Harbor UCLA. She completed her residency in psychiatry at Harbor UCLA as Chief Resident. Currently, she is an adult psychiatrist, with an outpatient clinic in Torrance and inpatient practice in Long Beach. She is also Principal Investigator at CNS Network, conducting research on new medication for various neurological and psychiatric indications. She is also a volunteer for the Physician Support Line, providing mental health services via telemedicine to peer physicians.
CE DETAILS
This course is intended for beginning to advanced mental health professionals.
Course meets the qualifications for 1 hour of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. CE completion certificates will be awarded when participants complete the course evaluation after speaker presentation.
