Corporate and Employment Law for Therapy Practitioners
Hosted by Sushan Barsegyan & Adam Walker of Full Circle Business Law
Friday, January 28, 2022, NOON PST
OVERVIEW:
When you opened up your own practice, you never thought you'd need to dip your toe into California's confusing world of corporate and labor law. But the rules of the game are changing, and therapy practices have a lot of catching up to do. The attorneys at Full Circle Business Law are here to help, with practical advice about forming and operating a professional corporation, negotiating the tangled employee-independent contractor web, and making sure you're meeting your obligations as an employer.
OBJECTIVES:
At the end of this 1-hour presentation, attendees will be able to:
1) Understand the pros and cons of forming a professional corporation, and the restrictions placed on therapy practices and their shareholders.
2) Understand the legal distinction between employees and independent contractors (and why everything has changed)
3) Identify common employer mistakes unique to therapy practices, and how to avoid them
4) Identify key employment-related documents their practices should have

You can still find videos online of Adam performing with Motion to Sever, the law-themed heavy metal band he co-founded in law school.
